Grateful Oars Rowing Club adult members join as regular members or coxswain/coach. The minimum age for membership is 14. Persons between the ages of 14 and 18 may join with permission of parent or guardian. Anyone who seeks to house a personal boat in the GORC boathouse must be a regular member and pay an additional fee for private boat racking (see below).
The Grateful Oars has a "try before you buy" policy of offering two free rows before a prospective member needs to pay full dues and join the club. A Learn to Row program is available for those who have never experienced rowing before. Members join one or more regular crews that row once per week. Although there is no limit to the number of crews one may row with on a regular basis, the need to accommodate all members' minimum rows, boat availability, and members' personal schedules combine typically for a practical limit of one or two rows per week. At a minimum, all members are assured of one regularly scheduled rowing session per week. Annual costs are as follows:
The membership fee is good for one year, payable in the spring. |
